Tantric Yoga Positions

Tantric yoga positions quite often conjure up thoughts of sex positions, but tantric yoga is goes far beyond sex. It is one of the eight major forms of yoga and is also known as tantra yoga and is divided in twp parts, the left hand and the right hand. The left hand is associated with sexual practices while the right hand is associated more with the mental practice and is barely seen.

The positions used in Tantric yoga are very similar to those used for other forms of yoga. Tantric yoga is practised by Tantra gurus who guide you through the movements while teaching you how to have a richer fuller life. Tantric yoga is derived from the Kundalini yoga and many of the postions can be called tantric if perfomed with a partner.

To become a Tantric student you must have the gifts of faith, purity, loyalty, non-covetousness, courage, cosmic love and dedication to you guru.

The camel pose can be achieved by taking the position and touching the soles of the feet together and look at each other upside down.

The side plank pose can be used to build  strength together, while the wide legged forward bend will enable you rejuvenate your mind while being back to back with your partner while maintaining eye contact. 

The downwards facing dog pose is achieved by pressing your buttocks against your partner’s buttocks and your eyes peeking at one another.

The tree yoga position can be either by doing this hip to hip or full front.

Tantric yoga positions are not just about sex, although increased pleasure is certainly an advantage of practising this form of yoga. Tantric yoga also involves a lot of eye contact and touching in a non sexual way, the aim is to channel  the energy the sexual and spiritual life-force throughout the rest of the body and to increase the level of intimacy by opening the heart to receive pleasure in different ways.

The sacred embrace is probably the simplest of tantric yoga positions and can be done with any partner not just a love partner.
